JOB SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Corporate Controller, the Payroll Manager directs all aspects of the payroll process, including timecard management and payroll submission, for over 6,000 employees across 25+ states. This role will manage a team of payroll processors and be responsible for administration of the payroll system, garnishments, off-cycle payroll runs, and the bi-weekly payroll process. This position will also be assisting in the implementation and transition of a new payroll system.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. | Oversight and thorough understanding of the payroll process including acting as coverage in the absence of payroll staff members. |
2. | Responsible for managing, mentoring, coaching, and developing payroll staff to meet current position requirements as well as future growth. |
3. | Answers questions about wages, deductions, attendance, and time records. Ensure resolution of any payroll billing issues. |
4. | Oversight of garnishments, payroll reimbursements, manual checks, bonus accruals, unclaimed property, and other tasks performed by the payroll team. |
5. | Prepare reports in the payroll system, including summaries of earnings, payroll reconciliation, variance analysis, and reports required for upload into the accounting system. |
6. | Keep current on regulations and requirements for all states impacting the payroll process. |
7. | Identify potential areas of risk or vulnerabilities and develop specific, actionable solutions. Review and monitor internal resolution items and follow up as appropriate. Leverage technology and processes to gain efficiencies. |
